The Parents and Grandparents Immigration Program to Canada is a program designed for Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Who you can sponsor :

You can sponsor your own parents and grandparents.

Eligibility to Sponsor Parents and Grandparents :

• Age of the sponsor should be at least 18 years old.

• Sponsor should be living in Canada presently

• Sponsor should be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada

• Sponsor should have enough money to support the parents or grandparents. The sponsor may include a co-signer in the application. (If applicable)

Sponsor also –

• Agrees to have an undertaking for parents and grandparents for 20 years.

• Sponsor is required to repay any social assistance paid to parents and grandparents during that time.

Steps for Application Process :

• Submit the Interest to Sponsor online form

• Get an Invitation to apply in a lottery

• Send a complete application to IRCC with associated fees.

• Send additional supporting documents or information during processing.

• After approval receive confirmation of permanent residency

About the Parent and Grandparent Program 2023 :

• The parent and grandparent sponsorship program for the year 2023 was announced on September 8, 2023.

• IRCC will send 24,200 invitations to potential sponsors, with the aim of receiving 15,000 complete applications.

• Selection will be done randomly from the remaining pool of interest to sponsor forms submitted in 2020.

• Invitations to apply will be sent over the course of 2 weeks, starting from October 10, 2023, to October 23, 2023.

• If you submitted the Interest to Sponsor Form in 2020 and did not receive an invitation to apply in 2021 or 2022, Check your email account, which you provided in the Interest to Sponsor Form.

• Those who are invited to apply for PGP 2023 must submit their application by the deadline mentioned in the invitation to apply letter.

• There will be two applications that are required to be submitted online if you receive an invitation for the 2023 PGP program.

  1. You must apply to become a sponsor.
  2. Your parents or grandparents must apply for permanent residence.

• Submit both the sponsorship and the permanent residence applications online at the same time.
